First work week of 2014! As compared to the previous months, my enthusiasm for work was better. I'm happy to report that I'm beating my deadlines. Almost all of my tasks are getting accomplished, quite a surprise for me because I was expecting to start things slow. I think my longest phone conversation with my friend W helped a lot. My struggles are still there but W made me appreciate my work better.
While I'm doing well with work, my foodie intakes seem to be positively correlated. The food cravings and intakes are intolerable. Grilled pork, cakes, fried dishes, I'm suddenly dreaming of them in the middle of the work day. If this is the trade off of becoming a good employee, then I'm afraid I have to be awarded with higher medical allowance and real gym membership. ;) Here are my weird and few food indulgences last week.
Jollibee's Chicken Joy - Who doesn't love Jollibee's Chicken Joy? I have loved their fried chicken for as long as I can remember. I cannot count how many times I rewarded myself with the juiciest chicken and classic gravy.
J.Co's doughnuts - I mentioned in a previous post that I'm not a huge fan of this most sought after doughnuts. Still holds true because I only prefer a few of their flavors, alcapone, oreo, this almond sprinkled green tea and strawberry sprinkled with chocolate caviar. I have to laugh with the name, chocolate caviar ;)
Sincerity Chicken - I have to force my friend to accompany me to Lucky Chinatown Mall for another fried chicken craving.
Guess where? Hi there Mr. Postman!
I have to drop by one of my favorite places on earth for some personal and work related errands. The architecture of the Philippine Postal Corporation will forever be one of my favorites.
The pavement leading to the main building also reminds me of Central Park NY. Haven't been in NY but blame all the sappy romantic films I've watched :)

The best way to end the first work week is to indulge myself with food and a great movie.
Banoffee Pie from Starbucks - I had a lot of this during the holiday break. Blame all the Starbucks GCs I received as gifts last Xmas. Hahaha I used to love Red Ribbon's version, which for no reason at all, was removed from their menu.
Love Rosie in the big screen - Oh finally! I have mixed feelings about the movie. I don't want to provide spoilers but what I love best, the filming locations were perfect.
Reyes Barbecue - I rekindled my love for their java rice, grilled pork and peanut sauce. I don't know why I always confine myself to Mcdonald's given that Reyes Barbecue is another unhealthy and delicious alternative :)
I had a book-themed wedding years ago, and I used all of my books for centerpieces/decors. Isa sa mga hindi na nakabalik sa'kin 'yung Love, Rosie. Hayyy. At sana maabutan ko pa sa sine 'yan. Na-try mo na ba ang Pan De Manila donuts? Ok din e. Wala pang pila hihi. :)

Looks like I'll have to wait for Love, Rosie to be available on torrent. My sister can't stand Lily Collins so watching the movie is out of the question.
ReplyDeleteNa-miss ko nang mag-JCo! It's been a while since I last ate from that place.
Oh, I haven't read that book. My first week back to work was hella busy... then I ended it with a BBQ with friends last night, so that was a satisfying end. Pampalubag loob. Haha. Oi but I'm not complaining. I'd rather be busy in the clinic than not busy. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteWhat is that fancy looking drink Diane? And your postoffice looks amazing! We used to have a pretty one over here too, in a gorgeous looking building, but that has been turned into a supermarket, and postoffices as such, don't exist anymore over here, they are now more like shop in shops. Too bad, cause I love old buildings. the ones with the pretty tiled floors, and high ceilings.
ReplyDeletewatermelon shake :)
Deleteand yes, i share the same love with old buildings with you
Diane, you know, for some time, I had firm belief that Luneta Hotel would be mine and I'd restore it to its former glory. Delusions of grandeur, I know. :(
DeleteI felt a bit sad with what Marieken Hoefnagel said -- a place that used to hold letters, romantic or otherwise, being used for something so mundane as a supermarket...
My fear too... I read reports that there are plans to turn Philpost to a hotel. I may sound as an antagonist here but I'm hoping it will not materialize. I love old buildings, one of my favorites is the Philpost.
DeleteLuneta Hotel is restored now, although I haven't seen it. Some of my colleagues kasi is making tsismis about the ghost stories... I've seen a few photos from other bloggers, pero hanggang dun lang.
Philpost to a hotel????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
DeleteHi Diane. First off, what's the rice beside the chicken? Looks nice and gooey. Also is the grilled pork from Reyes sweetish like the barbecue, or not?
ReplyDeleteRe the Philpost building, I heard the idea of converting it into a hotel was inspired by Fullerton in Singapore. Sounds better than being turned into a supermarket or being torn down completely!
TPS - really? Ownership of Luneta Hotel? Wow!
Hi derdo! It's the classic fried rice of Sincerity chicken :) A little tip though: ask the waiter to reheat or serve it hot...There are instances that they serve it really cold. Another option is the kiampong rice, tastes good too.
DeleteDerdo, delusion of grandeur talaga. :)
DeleteHi again derdo, i forgot to answer your query about the reyes' grilled port. it doesn't taste sweetish. although i can taste a special barbecue sauce.
DeleteWho doesn't love Jollibee's Chicken Joy? -- Me! Hahaha. But yeah, I'm not a Chicken Joy kid. I prefer KFC, Wendy's, Popeye's and Texas.. and even McDonald's. :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to take a picture at that Post Office but until now hindi ko pa din sya natutupad.. :( Wala talaga akong alam sa Maynila.. :(
Hi Miss Diane,
ReplyDeleteJust dropping in to say "hi", and to tell you that your blog is bee-u-tee-ful.
Heaps of Hugs

Now I want to check out Love Rosie, I had not heard of that movie before you mentioned it. The food looks very delicious, all of it!
