Writing this post made me feel older. I was born in the 80s and growing up in the 90s always meant hearing Seiko Wallet's commercial, whose tagline remained the same, Ang Wallet na Maswerte. I also can't forget how the voice talent pronounced the phrase, genuine leather. Instead of je-new-win, it was pronounced as je-new-wine.

I never owned a Seiko wallet. Though oftentimes, I would see wallets as gifts for my parents. The brand has also been present in all SM Department stores. A few times, I would browse their wallets, but nothing appealed to me. I always purchase faux leather wallets from Girbuad or Kate Spade. I'm not sure if it comes with age, but I seem to outgrew the designs from the said brands. I also noticed that prices have become unreasonable.

Months ago, I intended to purchase a small pouch for my Vietnam trip. I went to SM Department Store and ended with the racks of Seiko Wallet. I noticed this coin purse and as expected, I took it home.

It originally retailed for Php 1,000+. With the ongoing discount, I was able to purchase it for Php 700.

What I love about the wallet:

1. It's made of "genuine" leather. I don't have any leather bag or wallet. This is the first in my ownership so far.

2. The leather is soft yet sturdy. I prefer soft and pebbled leather than those with shiny and stiff material. It is also scratch resistant, which was for the win for me.

3. It's small, but can fit a lot. It has provisions for coins, cards and folded paper bills.

4. The stitches are of great quality. Small details matter, especially stitching. It contributes in the durability and reflects the quality of craftsmanship.

5. The zippers are thick and facilitates easy pulling.

Because I was satisfied with this homegrown brand, I was hoping they will create a bigger version of this purse. I also hope they would become sustainable and remain as one of the few local brands thriving in the local market.

Seiko wallets can also be purchased from Shopee. I noticed that most purchases from Shopee comes with freebies. I purchased mine from SM Department Store, which was a better decision because it came out way cheaper.

I also discovered that Seiko Wallets is gradually increasing their social media presence through their Tiktok account. As they say, Tiktok is the new vlogging platform. I hope this local brand will continue to reinvent or move with the new approaches in marketing and promotion.

On a different note, I also wish that even though traditional blogging is becoming passé, I hope my page still generates hits and views and provide relevant information to those who need it.
